Yes. Château Carqueiranne is recognised as the oldest wine estate in Provence, with a deed of sale from 1217 describing the estate of "Guillaume de Carcarana" and a continuous history of vine and olive cultivation since the 13th century. Archaeological excavations have uncovered the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa with traces of vine cultivation dating back to the first century BC.
Château Carqueiranne is reserved for wines made exclusively from vines on the commune of Carqueiranne: territorial roots and local wine heritage. LAMOUR reveals the potential of plots in Hyères, La Garde and La Crau, with a more emotional and contemporary vision, designed for pleasure and sharing.
Following the example of the great Champagne houses, we prioritise the stability of the aromatic profile over the expression of a single year. Each cuvée is crafted according to a precise specification, to guarantee the same taste signature year after year.
Our vines are spread across the communes of Carqueiranne, Hyères, La Garde and La Crau (25 hectares). Vinification and ageing are currently carried out at the Cellier de La Crau; a new winery is planned on the estate, expected to come into service by 2028.
We are developing a polyculture and regenerative agriculture approach. Our vines coexist with bees, donkeys and sheep, and we practise careful water management from the Canal de Provence. The milk from the Carqueiranne donkeys is even used to make artisanal soaps with local partners.
